IT Manager

HCOS is a thriving online learning community offering K-12 home and online education to students across the province. HCOS provides flexible solutions and programming tailored to every child’s learning journey.

HCOS has an opening for an IT Manager. This is a full-time, permanent, hybrid, position. The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the Information Technology department (Technical Support/Systems Administration), overseeing and completing IT projects and driving organization vision and culture.

As the IT Manager, your duties and responsibilities will include:

• Lead and promote the IT team’s vision, processes, and culture, aligning with the organization’s values
• Manage IT staffing, including hiring, training, scheduling, and conducting performance evaluations
• Oversee the department’s budget, resource needs, and work with supervisors for financial planning
• Plan and grow the IT infrastructure for sustainability and long-term success
• Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures, developing policies in collaboration with leadership
• Collaborate with organizational leaders to provide strategic technical support and recommend solutions
• Manage IT projects, including defining scopes, creating proposals, planning, resource allocation and progress tracking
• Represent the IT department at leadership meetings, advocating for staff and contributing to school leadership
• Occasional travel to  leadership meetings, conferences, and other organization events as required

We are looking for someone with the following Qualifications & Skills:

• Demonstrates a commitment to, and a lifestyle reflective of, the KCCS Foundational Beliefs.
• Must have an understanding of IT infrastructure (Active Directory, Websites, Networking, etc.) and development environments (versioning, testing, issue reporting, etc.)
• Solves problems effectively with innovation, flexibility, decisiveness, and care both individually and as part of a team
• Ability to manage varying workloads and prioritize multiple tasks to ensure scheduled deadlines are met
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work on a computer for extended periods
• Must be regularly and reliably available via Zoom, email or phone
• Familiarity with the BC educational system considered an asset
