Heritage Christian Online (HCOS) is a K-12 Provincial Online Learning School, providing fully accredited, Christian education to students in BC. As one of Western Canada’s largest online schools, we connect teachers with families and students to provide guidance and support via personalized, online, and face-to-face options.
We are seeking a lead writer for a BC Physical Geography 12 online course. This writer will have a deep knowledge and understanding of physical geography and an infectious passion for the subject. This is a part-time contract position that will span about 12 months. The writer will be working with a team of experienced curriculum writers who will guide them through the process from start to finish.
Skills and competencies required for this role:
- Demonstrated commitment to, and lifestyle reflective of, the KCCS Foundational Beliefs
- Deep knowledge and understanding of physical geography
- Infectious passion for the subject matter
- Experience teaching Physical Geography 12 or a similar course
- A strong ability as a writer
- An ability to create a wide variety of assessment pieces that are properly correlated with learning standards
- Sensitivity to variety of student needs
- An ability to present content in an accessible way for diverse student needs, especially students who struggle with abstract concepts
- A willingness to learn and follow StudyForge pedagogical and design principles
- A willingness to collaborate with a team in the planning, writing, and revision process
- A willingness to take constructive feedback
- An ability to communicate at an appropriate age level in written form
- Experience teaching BC high school curriculum is preferred but not required
- Experience working with digital curriculum is preferred but not required
Compensation:
- $35-$40 per hour depending on qualifications
