Heritage Christian Online School (HCOS) is a K-12 Provincial Online Learning School, providing fully accredited, Christian education to students in BC. As one of Western Canada’s largest online schools, we connect teachers with families and students to provide guidance and support via personalized, online, and face-to-face options.

HCOS has an opening for an a Student Success Centre EA – Numeracy & Literacy working collaboratively with the HCOS Student Success Centre Coordinator and Grad Advisor for Inclusive Education. This is an remote position at 20 hours per week, with the possibility of more hours in the future. The primary role of this position is to be responsible for 1:1 Learning Support (LS) in numeracy and literacy.  This candidate will work collaboratively with the Student Success Centre (SSC) Coordinator and Grad Advisor (GA) for Inclusive Education (IE) to ensure that all aspects of the working relationship with all the stakeholders including 3 Grad Advisors for Inclusive Education (IE), Grad Program Teachers and the other Student Success Centre (SSC) Education Assistants (EAs), providing optimal student support for Grades 10-12 through the SSC.

The HCOS Student Success Centre EA duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate and communicate with IE GA, SSC Coordinator, and EAs to promote mission, vision, values, and school-wide goals to enhance student learning and success
  • Complete EA reporting in Encom on a daily and weekly basis
  • Collect data and monitor students, ongoing after each student meeting
  • Occasionally complete write-ups for school-wide blog posts about the SSC
  • Participate in and deliver workshops during Grad orientation week
  • Any other reasonable task associated with serving our internal and external stakeholders (EAs, CMs, and their students/families)

  • Knowledge of IE and/or EA experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload and flexibility to manage multiple tasks to ensure scheduled deadlines are met

  • Ability to be discreet and manage confidential information sensitively
  • Demonstrate alignment in supporting team goals over individual aims

  • Proficient technology skills and ability to work in an online environment: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook), Google Docs, Brightspace, StudyForge, Read & Write, Encom and Zoom
  • Remote home office with ergonomic workstation

The working conditions and physical requirements for this position are:

  • Remote position in an ergonomically arranged home office
  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods
  • 20 hours per week, with the possibility of more hours in the future
  • Regularly available via phone, text, or Zoom
  • Some travel may be required for face-to-face staff/team meetings, including but not limited to, the last week of August for RenewEd staff meetings

Competitive wage from $25 to $30

This position will commence on September 3, 2024 at the beginning of our academic year and continue through to June 18, 2025 end of school year.
