HCOS has an opening for an a Student Success Centre Online EA – Numeracy & Science reporting to the HCOS Student Success Centre Coordinator and Inclusive Education Grad Advisor. This is an remote position at 20 hours per week.
The primary role of this position is to provide one-on-one support in numeracy and science to students in Grades 5–12. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Student Success Centre (SSC) Coordinator and the Innovations Advisor (IA) for Inclusive Education (IE) to ensure seamless coordination across all educational support services. This includes fostering effective working relationships with other SSC Education Assistants (EAs), Inclusive Education Case Managers (CMs), and Middle School and Graduate Program Teachers. Together, they will work to deliver comprehensive and optimal support to students through the SSC.
The HCOS Student Success Centre EA duties and responsibilities will include:
- Collaborate and communicate with IE GA, SSC Coordinator, and EAs to promote mission, vision, values, and school-wide goals to enhance student learning and success
- Meet with and support students in one-on-one conversations
- Collect data and monitor students; ongoing after each student meeting
- Occasionally complete SSC-focused write-ups for school-wide blogs
- Participate in and deliver workshops during Grad Orientation Week
- Any other reasonable task associated with serving our internal and external stakeholders (EAs, CMs, and their students/families)
We are looking for someone with the following Qualifications & Skills:
- Demonstrates a commitment to, and a lifestyle reflective of, the KCCS Foundational Beliefs
- Demonstrated understanding of British Columbia Math and Science courses from Grades 5-12, with expertise in Foundations of Math and Pre-Calculus 10, Pre-Calculus 11/Pre-Calculus 12, Calculus 12, Science 10, Physics 11/Physics 12, Chemistry 11/Chemistry12, Life Sciences 11, Anatomy and Physiology 12 and with the potential of supporting students in AP Calculus
- Knowledge of Individualized Education and/or Educational Assistant experience required
- Intrinsically motivated, adaptable, solution-oriented, self-reflective, and encouraging
- Collaborative and team-oriented; relationally competent
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize workload and flexibility; manage multiple tasks to meet scheduled deadlines
- Ability to be discreet and manage confidential information sensitively
- Proficient technology skills and ability to work in an online environment
The working conditions and physical requirements for this position are:
- Remote position in an ergonomically arranged home office with a reliable computer and internet
- Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time
- 20 hours per week, scheduled Monday through Friday within the 8am to 5pm PST time frame
- Regularly available via phone, text, or Zoom
Competitive wage from $21 to $26.52
