Kelowna Christian Center  (KCC), church is a ministry of Kelowna Christian Center Society (KCCS). KCCS was established in 1982 with a vision for the community and global influence. We have an opening for an onsite Children’s Director to join our KCC Ministry Team for 40 hours per week. The primary role of this position is to lead, inspire, oversee and develop the Children’s Ministry in a positive, healthy and safe Christian environment, while coordinating and implementing the necessary department strategies and projects.

As the KCC Children’s Director, your duties and responsibilities will include: 
  • Prepare and distribute weekly lessons for classes
  • Contact Volunteers before Sunday, distribute curriculum, purchase and organize supplies for classes
  • Arrive before 8:45 am and conduct start-of-day procedures, such as opening and checking rooms to be used as well as turning on music and lights.
  • Ensure that the full complement of volunteers is scheduled for each class
  • Oversee staff ratios during service
  • Oversee cleaning tasks and ensure rooms are secured at end-of-day activities, if necessary
  • Update and maintain documents within the department, including attendance sheets and volunteer records
  • Conduct other administrative tasks such as filing past records and application forms as well as printing documents from the Planning Center program, as needed
  • Oversee all department protocols, including Health and Safety
  • Train volunteers in “Plan to Protect” procedures to mitigate against any possible liabilities
  • Ensure that all volunteers have a valid Criminal Record Check on file, in collaboration with HR procedures
  • Conduct volunteer reference checks/ calls, , and prepare the requisite communication, as needed
  • Plan and coordinate all KCC Children’s events and projects
  • Any other related duties that may arise, as needed
We are looking for someone with the following Qualifications and Skills:
  • Demonstrates a commitment to, and a lifestyle reflective of, the KCCS Foundational Beliefs
  • Previous experience in children’s work, planning, communication, etc is an asset
  • Experience in supervising, managing, recruiting, and team-building activities
  • Excellent communication skills with children and adults
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to inspire children and families
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Google Docs, Zoom
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • This is an onsite position
  • 40 hours per week
  • Flexible but consistent daytime office hours throughout the week, including occasional weekends or evenings, as needed
  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for extended hours at a time
  • Ability to do repetitive tasks and lift up to 40
