HCS has an opening for a Part-Time Middle and High School Social Studies and Science Teacher . This is an onsite position with a .37 – .5 FTE to be determined based on the successful applicant. The primary role of this position is to educate the students within this classroom and support their academic, spiritual, and social-emotional growth.

As a Teacher, your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Provide for the social, spiritual, emotional, and academic learning needs of students
  • Deliver meaningful academic courses with a focus on seeing kids grow in their relationships with Christ
  • Collaborate with Educational Support Department in creation of IEPs and their delivery
  • Plan and run local school field trips as necessary
  • Participate in Transition Meetings, Parent Nights, Staff Meetings, Professional Development, and take leadership when requested
  • Maintain excellent daily communication and connection with students, families, staff, and other stakeholders
  • Ensure all safety and supervision standards are implemented and maintained as per the requirements of our school policies and procedures
  • Work effectively and as an active member of the staff teams, assist with other duties and responsibilities as required
  • Carry out teaching duties with regards to electives or specific courses to be assigned yearly within the school schedule
  • Carry out policies of the handbook and other required school policies including those related to discipline, lates, academic policies, etc.
  • The successful applicant can potentially have strength areas in Humanities and Science

We are looking for someone with the following Qualifications & Skills:

  • BC qualified Teacher
  • Technologically proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook), Google Drive, Zoom, etc
  • Flexible and supportive attitude towards innovation and change
